China’s newest five year plan has a target of reaching moderate developed nation per capita income levels by 2

China’s newest five year plan has a target of reaching moderate developed nation per capita income levels by 2035. Spain has a per capita income level of $26,000 now and Italy has a per capita income level of $30,000. Those countries have GDP growth rates of about 1-2% per year. If China were to catch up to those countries in 2035, then China would need a per capita income of about $35,000. China’s current nominal per capita GDP is $10,839. If China had about 5% per year GDP growth this would double China’s per capita income by 2035. Combining that with a near doubling of the chinese currency versus the US Dollar, would enable per capita income to get to the $35,000-40,000 per person level in 2035. China again will emphasize innovation and boosting research and development as a share of...

Sydney will host the world’s biggest concert of the COVID-19 era on November 28, when local band Ocean Alley plays before 6000 people, followed by Bernard Fanning on December 5.

TEG and Live Nation are both members of the powerful Live Entertainment Industry Forum, chaired by former Cricket Australia boss James Sutherland. Last month, LEIF released an EY report estimating that the number of full-time-equivalent jobs supported by the industry nationwide would fall from 122,000 in 2019 to just 43,000 by December if it could not play to full houses. There will be far from full houses at the Ocean Alley and Bernard Fanning concerts, which are expected to quickly sell out their 6000 tickets apiece. The Qudos Bank Arena, which TEG leases from the government, crammed in more than 21,000 people for a Justin Timberlake concert in 2014. The anniversary of the Instrument of Accession last month is a reminder of China’s illegal territorial occupation

Following the abrogation of Article 370 and reorganisation of the Indian State of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), a China-Pakistan tandem has emerged to internationalise the issue, including in the UN Security Council. Pakistan has feigned solidarity with the people of Kashmir and continues to train and fund separatists and terrorists. The Financial Action Task Force (FATF), the global watchdog that monitors terror financing, has retained Pakistan on its Grey List for a good reason. Chinas support for Pakistan is motivated by a desire to perpetuate its own territorial grab in the trans-Karakoram Shaksgam Tract of Kashmir. Legitimately Indias China treats the J&K issue as a bilateral dispute left over from history to be resolved between India and Pakistan. It has turned a blind eye to th...

Joe Biden within six electoral college votes of victory while president’s lead narrows in remaining battlegrounds

Donald Trump called for vote counting to be halted in several swing states as the US waited for results from a handful of battlegrounds that will decide the presidential election. As of Thursday morning, Democratic challenger Joe Biden was within six electoral votes of victory while Mr Trump’s thin lead in two swing states, Georgia and Pennsylvania, appeared to be narrowing. Victory in Michigan and Wisconsin on Wednesday pushed Mr Biden to 264 in the race for the 270 electoral college votes needed to win the presidency. Mr Trump leads his rival in Georgia but Democrats were increasingly optimistic about the southern state because the remaining votes to be counted were mostly from heavily Democratic counties. “STOP THE COUNT!” Mr Trump tweeted on Thursday, as his campaign pressed lawsu...
