Presumptive President-elect Joseph R. Biden is projected to defeat President Trump in the 2020 election and become the 46th president of the United States.

Presumptive President-elect Joseph R. Biden is projected to defeat President Trump in the 2020 election and become the 46th president of the United States. The Associated Press called the race for Mr. Biden on Saturday morning, four days after an Election Day that capped a bruising presidential race held amid the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic. The president was at his golf club in northern Virginia when the race was called for Mr. Biden. In a tweet Saturday morning, the president said, “I WON THIS ELECTION, BY A LOT!” In a speech Friday night in Delaware, Mr. Biden didn’t officially declare victory but said the numbers were pointing toward a win for him. “What’s becoming clear each hour is that a record number of Americans of all races faiths, religions, chose change over more ...

An observational study has found that osteoporosis medications do not increase the risk of COVID-19. In fact, some may even help reduce its incidence.

A small observational study has found no evidence that osteoporosis drugs increase the risk of getting COVID-19. The research hints that some of the drugs may even reduce the risk. In people with osteoporosis, progressive reductions in bone density increase the risk of fractures. The condition tends to affect older people, and its incidence among females increases following menopause. Researchers have yet to directly test the possible effect of drug treatments for osteoporosis on a persons risk of developing COVID-19. Influential health organizations, such as the American College of Rheumatology, recommend that people continue taking their medications as usual. Now, researchers led by a team from the Hospital del Mar Medical Research Institute, in Barcelona, Spain, have analyzed data fr...

President Trump says his election observers were banned from watching votes being counted even as his own lawyer conceded to a Philadelphia judge that the campaign had people in the room.

President Donald Trump, in an early morning Twitter rage, complained his election observers were banned from watching votes being counted even as his own lawyer conceded to a Philadelphia judge that the campaign had people in the room. Trump complained about the election tallies in a 2:22 a.m. tweet that Twitter flagged as having incorrect information - an accusation from the president that follows his 17-minute rant in the White House press room that was filled with inaccuracies about the vote counting process.  'I easily WIN the Presidency of the United States with LEGAL VOTES CAST. The OBSERVERS were not allowed, in any way, shape, or form, to do their job and therefore, votes accepted during this period must be determined to be ILLEGAL VOTES. U.S. Supreme Court should decide!,' Trump...

The real star of Sony’s new console is its controller.

If you buy something from a Verge link, Vox Media may earn a commission. See our ethics statement.A new console generation is usually something you can see. Its measured in pixels and polygons. When we moved from the NES to the Super Nintendo, it wasnt hard to spot the difference between 8- and 16-bit Super Mario games. It was just as clear when games evolved to support 3D worlds and, later, HD graphics. Your eyes told you this was something new. It was obvious. With the PlayStation 5, things arent so simple. Yes, games look better, particularly if you have a high-end television to take advantage of features like 4K, HDR, and 120fps. But its not the dramatic shift that weve seen with past generations. Instead, the biggest changes come from how the experience feels. Games run smoother, loa...

Administrators and ordinary citizens came together to make a fair, safe and secure national vote possible

As the U.S. bites its collective nails waiting for a conclusive result in the presidential race, it may be difficult to view the 2020 election as a success. Close elections in polarized societies place great stress on democracy. After all, no matter who eventually wins, nearly half the country will be disappointed, perhaps even outraged, by the result. But from the perspective of election administration, the past week has been a surprising success. The smooth administration of the 2020 election is all the more impressive given the unprecedented challenges posed by the pandemic. Earlier this year, we saw meltdowns in election administration in the presidential primaries. During the Wisconsin primary, Milwaukee closed 97% of its polling places. New York City ended up disqualifying 20% of it...

The PS5 is a worthy 4K gaming machine with some next-gen titles you’ll actually want to play. You’ll just have to get used to its unique design.

Before you can even plug in the PS5, you'll have to learn how to install its plastic stand. While the console can stand vertically on its own, Sony recommends using it for both orientations. And once you handle the console, it's easy to see why. The PS5 is just too precarious when it's standing up without a stand; all it takes is a light brush from a child or pet to send your $500 console crashing to the floor. And if it's sitting horizontally, the system wobbles like an enormous egg, which also makes me worried it'll eventually roll off my table. So the stand makes sense -- but I don't have to like it. It screws onto the bottom of the console if you're standing it up, or slides into the back if it's going horizontal. Sony includes an instruction sheet that's relatively clear, but I'll be...

Three days after Election Day, President Donald Trump tweeted further false claims of election fraud in Michigan and Pennsylvania. Twitter restricted the tweets as violations of its Civic Integrity Policy.

Moderators labeled four additional tweets overnight, including two Fox News clips Illustration by Alex Castro Three days after Election Day, President Trump is still tangling with moderators in an effort to spread false claims about supposed election fraud. The president tweeted eight times on Thursday night and saw fully half of the tweets restricted by Twitter, blocking retweets and replies as it has done with previous infractions. The tweets came after a lull of several hours, during which a number of the presidents surrogates sent out tweet-length statements through other channels. Twitter is out of control, the president said in one of the unlabeled tweets, made possible through the government gift of Section 230! The tweets include the allegation that election observers were prev...

Al Roker announced Friday on "TODAY" that he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and will be undergoing surgery to have his prostate removed. The 66-year-old TODAY weatherman and co-host explained he wanted to publicly reveal his diagnosis to spotlight the fact that 1 in 7 African American men, 1 in 9 men overall, will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime. "I don't want people thinking, 'Oh, poor Al,' you know because I'm gonna be OK," Roker said. Roker will be undergoing surgery next week at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, where Dr. Vincent Laudone will perform the procedure. "Fortunately his cancer appears somewhat limited or confined to the prostate, but because it's more aggressive, we wanted to treat it, and after discussion regarding al...
