Amanda Nunes is a heavy favorite in the women’s featherweight championship bout. Here’s where the betting value lies on the card.

The UFC remains in Las Vegas this week at its new Apex training center and will put on its second pay-per-view card of the crowd-less sports era. Headlining is dual-weight class champ Amanda Nunes, widely considered the women's GOAT, now in a role of routine heavy favorite. But there's also a lineup of ranked fighters in much tighter matchups. In fact, five of the top 15 ranked bantamweights are set to face off in what could shuffle the pecking order in that newly wide-open division. There's also a pair of undefeated fighters in Sean O'Malley and Chase Hooper, who are looking to build some momentum in front of increasingly large audiences. We'll examine the chalk on Nunes and explore more value elsewhere on the card. Early prelims are at 6 p.m. ET on ESPN/ESPN+. Prelims commence at 8 p....

Reade has accused Biden of sexually assaulting her when she was an employee of his Senate office in 1993.

The Monterey County, California District Attorneys office has begun investigating whether Tara Reade lied under oath, an official told Politico. Reade, who at the time went by Alexandra McCabe, spent years testifying as a domestic violence expert for the California D.A.s office. But recent media investigations into her background, spurred by attempts to verify whether shes telling the truth about her claim that former Vice President Biden sexually assaulted her, have raised questions about whether she lied about her educational background relevant credentials for her qualification as an expert witness. We are investigating whether Ms. McCabe gave false testimony under oath, Monterey County Chief Assistant District Attorney Berkley Brannon told Politico on Tuesday. Reade spent years a...

The unit was sold to Savant Systems with no terms disclosed.

General Electric (NYSE: GE) agreed to sell its lighting business to Savant Systems, a Hyannis, Mass.-based smart home management company backed by KKR. Why it matters: This cuts GE's last product ties to Thomas Edison. No terms were disclosed, but the WSJ puts the price tag at around $250 million (including assumed liabilities). That's only half of what GE hoped to get when it first decided to divest in 2017.The bottom line: GE is no longer in the consumer products business, although Savant plans to maintain the GE bulb branding via a long-term licensing agreement. As for what's next, GE could become the global leader in giant robot worms.

The Facebook CEO pushed back on Twitter’s move to fact-check a pair of Trump tweets.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg argued on CNBC's "Squawk Box" Thursday that social media platforms should not police political speech, and that "people should be able to see what politicians say. Why it matters: Zuckerberg was responding to Twitter's decision this week to fact-check a pair of President Trump's tweets that claimed that mail-in ballots are "substantially fraudulent." Twitter's label, which directs users to "get the facts" about mail-in voting, does not censor Trump's tweets. Trump fired back that the network was stifling free speech, and threatened on Wednesday to shut down or regulate social media platforms due to alleged anti-conservative bias. The White House later said Trump will sign an executive order concerning social media platforms on Thursday, but the full details ha

Watching videos of different tasks being completed is oddly satisfying and reminds us of pre-lockdown life, says Annalee Newitz

By Annalee Newitz 10'000 Hours/Getty Images IT STARTED innocently enough, with a friend telling me about the Peregrine Nest Cam at the University of California, Berkeley. High in the campus clock tower, under a webcam’s watchful eye, some biology researchers had arranged a box of gravel for two peregrine falcons and their three floofy, awkward babies. I couldn’t stop watching. I’ve spent weeks following along as the chicks shed their down, fought for chunks of meat and screamed at the top of their lungs. Now, they are almost ready to fly and I feel a deep sense of accomplishment. But why? I didn’t …

‘Those of us who work in the health disparities space are saddened but not surprised at the race-based disparities that this crisis has brought to light.’

The current pandemic is exposing and exacerbating already existing social inequalities. In this interview, Medical News Today spoke to Tiffany Green, assistant professor in the Departments of Population Health Sciences and Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, about COVID-19 and race-related health disparities. Factors such as race, ethnicity, gender, and income, in combination with discriminatory attitudes, result in some groups of people taking the brunt of the pandemic to a disproportionate degree. Emerging data show that in the United States, the COVID-19 pandemic is disproportionately affecting black and Latinx people, with some data indicating that American Indians, Alaska Natives, and other ethnic minority groups are also exposed to higher risks of seri...
