The original Demons Souls for PlayStation 3 gave players an extensive suite of character creation tools, a long list of sliders that tweaked everything from cheekbones to eyebrows to jawlines. The results, however, often ranged from doofy to derpy to downright Monster Factory freak of nature. In other words, it was hard to make your Demons Souls character look good, which was acceptable, because you were probably going to walk around with a helmet on most of the time.
The Demons Souls remake for PlayStation 5 will include a similarly in-depth but now much better-looking character creator, as revealed Thursday on the PlayStation Blog.
Demons Souls creative director Gavin Moore said that players will be able to customize their characters appearance with up to 16 million permutations.
Weve added many more customization options than youll remember from the PS3 game, and also worked hard to ensure there is a satisfying variety possible for those who wish to tinker with every slider, Moore said. Play as yourself, or who you want to be.

Players will actually want to spend some time working on their new Demons Souls character, because the PlayStation 5 game will also ship with a photo mode. Boletarian photographers will have plenty of picture-taking tools at their disposal, including the option to take off your characters headgear when snapping pics. Players will even be able to apply visual filters, both in photo mode and in the main game, including one filter designed to mimic the appearance of the original PlayStation 3 game.
Demons Souls is coming to PlayStation 5 on the consoles launch day, Nov. 12.
